Pedro Myers-Heresies
When it comes to what i consider to be art, I tend to gravitatetowards piece that question how society depicts or views others in relation to the dominate culture. I found Pedro Myers pieces really interesting because I think it fits into this concept of what I think really good art is. I think it should cause you (I) as the viewer to question the status quote, seek answers to why that is. He seeks to question the limits of truth, fiction and reality. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces. The first picture is called Holy week in Coyoacians. I found this picture interesting because to this culture those cloths are secreted but to under cultures they are symbol of fear and hatred. The second piece is called The Camera’s Brush. I found this photo interesting because the subject it depicted in a haze of brush stroke and she holds her hand up as if to shield herself have the haze of brush stoke that may or may not represent how the world views her.
